Voted “Best of Baltimore 2020” by Baltimore Magazine!

2020 Best of Baltimore

Thank you Baltimore Magazine for voting Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions “Best of Baltimore” for 2020! If you didn’t get a chance to check out the September issue yet, here is what Baltimore Magazine had to say:

This company once called themselves locksmiths, but that no longer describes all the services provided these days by Easter’s Lock and Security Solutions: They’re experts on safes, access control, video monitoring, and intercom systems–and, of course, your old-fashioned mechanical lock and key. After 68 years, they’ve become Maryland’s largest independent provider of security systems. Need them right now? They have more than 25 technicians cruising around 24 hours a day and offer a one-hour emergency response time.

Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions was previously award “Best of Baltimore” by the magazine in 2016, 2015, 2012, and 2011! Additionally, we have also received newsworthy remarks from publications such as City Paper and Baltimore Sun. In 2014, Our security division placed second in the nation for installing one of the most technically advanced security systems that year. President/CEO Bob Easter has won the Smart CEO award and was featured on the cover of the magazine.

Free Amazon Key For Business Installation

For many people, getting a package delivered from Amazon is painless. However, problems can arise in access-controlled properties such as apartment complexes, condominiums, and businesses. At Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions, we have partnered with Amazon to install Amazon Key for Business at your facility to help alleviate wasted time managing Amazon packages and ensure seamless deliveries. The best part of all? This service is FREE for your property!

Open for delivery

Overview

Amazon strives to make its package delivery process quick and easy for customers. However, sometimes an Amazon delivery associate can’t access a building for several reasons:

  • The mail room is on a floor accessible only to authorized residents.
  • The leasing office or business reception area is closed.
  • Elevator access is restricted.

In these scenarios, customers must “buzz” drivers into the building and meet them in the lobby or even outside, which takes coordination on both ends. If the customer is not available, the delivery is even more difficult.

If there’s no safe location to leave the package, the delivery associate tries a re-delivery on a different day. This leads to delivery delays, calls to customer support, reorders, and sometimes many re-attempts before a successful delivery. Ultimately, it results in a poor customer experience.

Solution

To solve this problem, an Amazon team created the Key for Business service, which integrates with a building’s existing access system to grant authorized people temporary access to complete deliveries. This solution doesn’t disrupt tenant access, so residents and business owners can continue to use their existing access method (access card or remote control).

The service involves four steps:

  1. A delivery associate uses the Amazon Flex app to request access to a building.
  2. The service verifies the delivery associate’s details, along with the building location and time of day.
  3. The service grants the delivery associate time-bounded temporary access.
  4. The delivery associate delivers the package to the relevant location (such as the lobby or mail room).

Wave Goodbye to Germs with Touchless Door Activation

COVID-19. Ebola. MRSA. Sars. Pneumonia. Influenza. The common cold. Some infections make national headlines, some make you miss work and others just make you miserable. No matter what the ailment, they should all remind you of the importance to practice good hand-hygiene.

At Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions we are proud to offer the supply and installation of BEA, Inc touchless actuators for your facility.

Touchless activation devices are effective and intelligent ways to safeguard your facility, your employees and your customers. By installing touchless door activation devices on your doors, you’re eliminating the need to touch extremely vulnerable and commonly touched items such as handles, push bars and other access methods. This helps eliminate cross contamination and reduce the spread of healthcare-associated infections.

As germs grow more aggressive and resistant to antibiotics and other treatments, it’s imperative to safeguard your facility as much as possible. Touchless activation plates are an extremely effective way to do this.

Uses

Healthcare Environments

Upgrade existing push plates to touchless actuators anywhere spreading germs is a key concern. From the waiting room to the ICU, patients, clinicians and visitors can be exposed to harmful germs and bacteria when good hand-hygiene practices fail. This can be critical for patient safety and care and in worst cases, lead to HAIs.

Clean Room Environments

Hospital Security Easter's Lock & Security Solutions

Reduce touch-points throughout a facility in order to reduce your opportunities to spread germs and bacteria by hand. Cleanroom settings require strict standards be followed to maintain the integrity of the environment’s sterilization. By removing traditional door handles and automating doors with touchless activation, you minimize the risk of cross-contamination via touch.

Industrial Environments

Industrial Security Easter's Lock & Security Solutions

Busy industrial facilities can contain a number of touch-points, increasing the likelihood of separating germs and bacteria throughout a facility. By upgrading to touchless activation in place of pull cords and push plates, you reduce the surfaces susceptible to harboring these and other potential contaminants.

Commercial / Retail Environments

New Federal Standard 809 Prohibits the Neutralization and Repair of all Black Label GSA Containers

Security Button with Easter's Lock & Security Solutions

Do you have a Black Label container that is currently affixed with a Kaba Mas X-09 spin dial? If so, it might be time to consider upgrading that lock to a new Kaba Mas X-10. On April 4th, GSA released a new Standard 809 stating that once a Black Label GSA Container is neutralized (drilled open) it cannot be repaired. Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions highly recommends that all customers who are currently utilizing the X-09 spin dial upgrade their lock to the newest Kaba Mas X-10.

In October 2015 the X-09 was issued it’s end-of-life because of a prevalent issue regarding the stepper motor. The X-09 showed signs of continuous failure and as such was replaced with the X-10. To date, the X-10 has performed exceptionally well. Even if your X-09 is working fine, should you experience a failure we cannot drill open your lock and repair it.

Upgrading to the Kaba Mas X-10 now can save you the cost of a new GSA Container.

  • Check for loose dial ring, spindle or mount screws.
  • Replace all damaged parts. Lubricate according to manufacturer’s instructions using only the recommended lubricant.
  • Check LCD for missing segments, cracks in the display lens or error codes displayed.
  • Perform the battery check procedure, replace batteries if appropriate. Replace batteries every 5 years or as recommended by the manufacturer.

Don’t Become the Target of an Injury Lawyer!

Do you have automatic doors at your facility or place of business? When was the last time you had them inspected by an AAADM Certified Technician? The operation of your automatic doors should be tested every morning by an employee before the start of business and inspected at least once a year by an AAADM Certified Technician.

As the business or building owner, you are obligated and responsible for the safety of your customer. According to the Consumer Product Safety Administration, there are nearly 50,000 people injured in automatic door and garage door accidents every year. Did You Know That The Lock on Your Safe Requires Periodic Servicing?

Just like the engine in your car, your combination lock is a temperamental mechanical device that can become dirty or worn with continued use. It highly is recommended that all combination locks be serviced every 2-3 years if the lock is used heavily.

The service of a combination lock entails that a safe technician disassembles the wheel pack, cleans the wheels and parts, replaces any worn parts, and lubricates the lock. This periodic servicing of your combination lock will result in a smoother, more reliable combination lock.

Indicators that it may be time to service your safe:

  • The lock is tight and difficult to dial
  • The lock combination changes over time
  • The lock makes a ‘clicking’ sound when dialed
  • The lock assembly is loose
  • The lock attempts to wind back in the wrong direction
  • The dial is crooked or unsteady

Easter’s Implements Access Control Systems to Remote Buildings without Trenching, Drilling, and Running Wires

Kaba Security

When a local military facility known for its weapons testing and medical research needed an access control solution to reach remote buildings, they relied on Easter’s Lock & Security Solutions.

“We were invited to the local Air Force base and asked for an assessment of an access control situation,” notes President/CEO, Robert Easter. “I’ll admit the compound was a bit overwhelming; it sits on over 72,000 acres and has over 2,000 buildings. The facility needed an access control solution at four remote buildings that surrounded the airfield. It was apparent that running wires to the buildings was not even a consideration. The E-Plex Enterprise System provided features and functions that hit all their check boxes, and it did not require expensive trenching, drilling, and running wires,” adds Easter.

Government Security Installations

“We conducted a site survey to determine how many Gateway/Routers were needed as well as their optimum placement at the airfield,” adds Easter. The Gateway/Router enables two-way communication from an E-Plex Lock or SAC (with wireless antenna kit) to the system’s server. “We installed a dozen E-Plex 5600 Locks among the buildings and installed the computer with Enterprise Software in an administrative building,” says Easter. “Enterprise Software extends access control capabilities of stand-alone locks, which increases security measures at the base,” notes Easter. With Enterprise Software, the system:

  • Supports 3,000 users per door
  • Offers 16 access schedules and 32 holiday blocks per door
  • Maintains 30,000 audit events

“In addition, the Wireless Option provides centralized access control management, meaning all lock and user programming as well as access point monitoring can be accomplished from one workstation,” remarks Easter. “The system administrator has real-time functionality of events, including user access such as the person’s photo, date/time and which door they accessed, as well as emergency lockdown or passage of locks commands. And, at a facility where security is critical, having information and controls at your fingertips makes access control more proactive than reactive.”
